Con-Cor has just announced they will be making both HO and N models of
the 1955 AeroTrain. Inforamtion on this project can be found at the
Con-Cor website at www.all-railroads.com. (Note: When you click
on our website allow about 30 seconds for the AeroTrain photos to load.)
We need more photos for confirming small details on the AeroTrain as
well as for correct lettering on some roads that used the AeroTrain. See
our web page for more details.
Model details and specifications will follow the same design as used on
the very popular HO and N Pioneer Zephyrs recently introducted.
A short re-run of both the HO and N Pioneer Zephyrs will be available
this coming Fall. Add-on 4th car for HO Zephyr due August, N due late
Fall.
C’mon, Jim, you know the rules. No commercial advertising or announcements. Personally, I’d like to see a separate forum dedicated to announcements like this, because I think there’s a place for them, but I’m more afraid of the “slippery slope” of allowing advertising in General Discussion. Maybe when the new Forum Software makes its debut next week?
But man, that is really cool. I’ve got to say that I appreciate the effort that Con-Cor has put into making these models at an affordable price. Keep up the good work. [8D]
Makes me wonder also, when a nice fellow like “trainfan 1221” does a drive by
shooting with no facts. We have been in business since 1959 and are in no way
“shaky”. I guess he missed all the rave reviews all our models have gotton over the
past five years, and the fact our N Budd series were"Models of the Year" in 2000.
Got to wonder about someone who does not include his Email address and “hides
behind” a fake ID.
If they are half as good as the Zephyr, they will be unbelievable.
one each of the HO and N please.[:D]
P.S. I hope the M-10000 is the next one on deck!!!
And MisterBeasley, I don’t take Mr C’s commercial advertising NOR announcements with any seriousness; his production line is located somewhere in the world of vapors out beyond the orbit of Mars and is likely at any minute to get clobbered by an asteroid. Remember the Challenger of the '70s - Due day after tomorrow; or was that next week; or next month; or next year; or in August; or December; or ever. I don’t hold onto my modeling dollars waiting for something to magically materialize from out of the vapor. I have appreciated his Budd cars; great! wonderful! I have bought at least one of most of them but I didn’t lay awake at night waiting for the next one to show up; if it was there and I had any money in my train budget I bought one; if not I ignored it - at least for the moment.
Mr C’s announcements are directly proportional to the intensity of his heartburn; I will believe that there is a 1955 AeroTrain on the way when I physically see a picture of one in his advertisements - and I don’t mean a picture of the prototype; I mean a picture of the model.
I don’t mean to be harsh nor hateful - I have met Mr C on numerous occasions - and I am very conscious of the fact that product schedules can slip but the man is incredibly unreliable as a manufacturer; Mr Sometime and Whenever - my LHS will special order for you but he won’t even try to stock Mr C’s merchandise - and hasn’t for many years.
Glad I picked up a old Varney for $45. Now, if I bought 10 Varney Aerotrains, that would be the price of a Con Cor! No offense. The Con-Cor models are nice. I saw a Pioneer Zephyr (I’m not sure how it’s spelled) one time, and it was sweet!
WOW! I am definitely going to have to consider this one. I’ve been waiting for a great AeroTrain in N scale…And now one’s been announced. The only thing that I can’t get over is the price…
What exactly justifies $430 for a four car set? One powered unit with headlights…Three fully lit passenger cars with interior details…DCC compatability…I don’t get it.
Oh, Mr. Con-Cor…Are there any other turbines being considered? I have one of the N scale Veranda units in CSX, and it is an absolute beauty and a beast of a model.[tup][tup]
As I read Jim’s announcement, I also noted a request for reference materials. Seems to me that he is letting you know about a new product and asking you for help with its development.
As for the bold-face, big-font insults; perhaps you might want to hold the comments until you have enjoyed pleasures of being in this business. Charlie Vlk filled me in on the realities of the model railroad business some years back, and I have recently had to deal with these issues as part of my life. Sometimes, it’s almost a miracle that some things get produced at all.
Okay. Was gonna let this pass, but what the heck. Sorry to offend, concor, bit I am going by past models I have seen and what I have been told by people at my various hobby stores. I also have seen a couple of models that I didn’t think were great, like the SD40-2. But I understand other models have received praise and your company is noted for some good models. If that is the case, then that is great and I will be glad to check out these models when they come out. I wasn’t aware we were supposed to supply a personal e-mail address, but do not hide behind a screen name. Anyone who wants can write back an opinion of what I have stated, as you have, and I welcome that.
As a matter of fact, I like when someone replies. Thanks for keeping things interesting!
