I have been searching for a HO New Haven PA-1 in green and gold scheme by Lifelike Proto 2000 on the internet and E-bay for twelve months with no success. Is a future production of this locomotive likely or should I have a PA-1 custom painted. I have only been in the hobby for about five years. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Life is too short. If after a year you haven’t found one by all means have it (them) custom painted. I’m not at all sure the maps at Walthers show the new world as far east as New England and we may be too old to properly appreciate the paint scheme when they finally get to it. Matthew,
They’re around. I keep seeing them turn up at train shows here in Massachusetts, along with the McGinnis and the Warm Orange schemes. If at all possible, try to make it to the Springfield (MA) train show. If you can’t find one there…well, let’s just say you should be able to find it in over 4 acres of display space (Springfield is one of the biggest and best train shows in the USA). It’s at the Big E in West Springfield, and it’s coming up at the end of January.
If you don’t have any success there, try Tucker’s Hobbies, in Warren, MA. Bob Buck, the owner, has one of the biggest HO shops in New England. And if he doesn’t have one, he might be able to find one. He’s a great guy, and he sells a lot of NH equipment.
And, if all that doesn’t work, try asking for help over on the New Haven Forum at the New Haven Railroad Historical & Technical Association’s (NHRHTA) website at:
