I would like to convert a Roco track cleaner from Horn Hook couplers to KD #5 couplers. I tried changeing them into the original pockets, but they are too low and too short. Does anyone have a tried and true method for this conversion?

On this model, the coupler pocket is part of the truck.

Cut the old draft gear box off flush with the floor. Install the Kadee #5 box and coupler with a 2-56 screw or just glue. A thin shim is necessary to lower the box to the correct height. Use Evergreen Scale Models styrene for the shim. Kadee also sells shims that match the #5 box. Kadee part # 211

We were telling everyone about how to use metal poli***o clean track and you won’t have clean the track for at least a couple of years anyway.
I haven’t cleaned my track since 2003 and it still runs great…I op every other thurs night.

Kadee makes coupler with different shank lengths and coupler hieghts (20, 30 and 40 series). They also offer couplers that plug into NEM boxes.
