HO scale Baltimore Harbor District

Right in my home town

do you have the layout tack plan for Highland town “Highlandtown of the Baltimore District HO scale (1:87.1)Size:3’-0"x7’-8” Scale of plan 5/8"=1’-0",12"grid

Will have to work in elements of Highlandtown on my 9x16 N gauge layout set in the fall of 1956. Great job Paul, thanks!

How about a trackage rights scenario for the Patapsco and Back River, especially with that nice Baldwin switcher available, complete with sound? That’s the “forgotten railroad” of Baltimore and could bring a transfer through.

Paul has nailed it with this layout design. I have operated on “segregated branch” layouts like this before, and find it a very efficient use of space. By breaking up the work areas, the operators actually “feel” that they are doing the work of a railroad by delivering cars to distant locations, not just chasing the tail on a mainline railroad. I can see that this layout would be immensely fun to operate, and would avoid the boredom that can often happen with smaller layouts. You may very well become my new track plan guru… Thanks

We can always count on Paul to do it right. And I’m very glad the editors gave Paul 8 pages to show the development of this area instead of breaking it down into two installments. I’d like to see, and think we will see, an article of photo-fronts and 3D add ons. Lance may well have pioneered this technique, but Paul took it to a delightful conclusion in his row houses. Hooray for Baltimore.

loved the pictures and articles makes us arm chair modlers jelous.

Paul’s layout made me a little homesick. I grew up in that exact neighborhood and in the same time period. My first experience with trains was the tracks that ran between Lombard and Baltimore Streets out to the Bayview yards.

Very good this Baltimore’s Layout in the scale HO, it is perfect.

Maybe someday I’ll be able to build a great layout like this.

I wish i had the space to put this set-up together some day great plan guys a job well done…

Thanks for the free download. I always enjoy studying track plans, to find new layout ideas, imagine how the layout would operate and consider how I might modify it to fit my own tastes. Now, I’ll get on with examination of this plan which looks fine at first glance.

I have found recently that prices on many HO locomotives and cars hae gone up about 25% to 35% in the past few montha!

Some day I"ll have enough room.

Point to point isn’t my style, although I love switching and operations. I do enjoy a round and round watch from time to time. Gives me good ideas for how to model city and industries.

Help! I want to on a 4x8 board have a mainline that I can use a switch at each end to bring in a passenber train to the ststion. I also wantt a small yard on the other side behind the station for freight, I would like about tree tracka and a way to do like tthe passenger side, Is this a posibility I AM A BEGINNER ANDF NEED HELP

I have been modeling HO scale trains for a few years and enjoy reading all stories. My layout is an 8X8ft and I have collected quite a lot of equipment. I have been around for a while and will continue to enjoy things for as long as I can , Cheers

My new Mac does not support ashx file format. How do I see any of the plans in the database?

Richard when you click om the file to download it have the system save the file instead of opening it. Then in the save as line change the file type from ashx to pdf. It will open when you click on the file name after that–Larry
