HO scale eyebolts

I would like to purchase (custom if necessary) a quantity of HO scale eyebolts similar to Detail Associates #2222 but about 1/2" long including the eye. DA will not make special size, even in quantity. If necessary, I’ll purchase 1,000 and pay set up charges. Does anyone know of a supplier that I can get these from?

Check with these folks: www.peck-polymers.com
They manufacture minature flying airplane models that are powered by rubberbands. The propeller shaft that connects the rubber band to the propeller looks just like an eyebolt and comes in various lengths…Vic

Check the Micro-Mark catalog and various model shipbuilding companies such as BlueJacket. They do have websites, check them through “Google”. What you are looking for is used in building model ships.

Can’t help you, but am curious…a half inch long eyebolt in HO scales out to about 43 1/2" long…mind telling us what you are modeling ?

Thanks for responding to my inquiry. Micro-Mark doesn’t have what I want but I’ll check out the model shipbuilding suppliers you mention. Unfortunately,the shipbuilding eyebolts, so far, have been too large for my purposes.

Mike,
I am modeling an early Kennicott Water Treatment Plant, (Oneida, NY, NYO&W, circa 1910)which was a steel tank. After the water was softened, it was pumped into an early style O&W water tank and used by O&W steam locomotives in the area.

The interesting part of the tank is an adjacent circular staircase about 45’ high that provided access to its towerhouse that contained machinery for mixing the water softening chemicals.

I have cast and drilled the pie shaped steps and need handrail supports to feed a thin wire (the hand rail itself) through so that it spirals to the top, complimenting the step easement. The handrail is about 36" high. Part of the eyebolt needs to go through the step to support it and be clipped off below.You are right about the 43" or so.

Got any ideas?

Joe, DEFINITELY check with BlueJacket, they have 1/96 scale railing stanchions for use on ship decks that might be perfect for what you want. I originally got on to them because they make 1/192 scale ships that can be used in N scale. They now make HO and N scale boats under the Harbor and Ocean label.
