HO Scale FWWR

Hi everybody, my friend and I are building an FWWR themed HO Scale layout in a 9 by 12 space. This thread will basically be any general discussion anout the layout, as well as progress photos.

Enjoy!

p.s. Track plan is on its way!

You’ll need to stock up on cheap die-cast vehicles to model the traffic jams at the Rte 377 crossing in Hood County
ETA: Figures, hot linking apparently is not allowed.

Yeah

Just as our luck would have it, we will be modeling Cresson

This will be fun to watch. I am fairly familiar with that route and have railfanned it somewhat, even going back to the mid 70’s when the Santa Fe owned it. My Dad and I spent a lot of time there. It was neat to see F units on those rails.

A little history…where the line crosses 1187 is not the original route. In the late 40’s, that section of track was moved to the east of the original to make room for the construction of Benbrook Lake. Some remains of where the track used to run are still visible.

I’m interested in seeing this layout built. I grew up in North Richland Hills about a half mile south of the tracks on the line to grapevine. I still remember when the Cotton Belt ran that portion. I’ve railfaned much of the FWWR over the years whenever I get leave and go home. Good luck.

Thanks for the good luck, but this layout just didn’t seem to pan out. My friend and I WILL be building another layout however, and we will be running FWWR equipment along with Florida East Coast for the fun of it. This forum will probably be the forum for progress on this other layout.

Too bad. I think this would be a neat line to model. Hmmm…maybe I need to come up with something myself!

Good luck on your FWWR / FEC layout!

Thanks for the good luck, but I once again spoke too soon. As much as I regret saying it, I won’t be doing that either. We WILL be (well, learning from past mistakes, HOPEFULLY) be running FEC and FWWR equipment on a club layout we are in, and the videos will be posted on YouTube. As far as making your own, good luck! The town of Cresson is a great area on the line to model, it has mainline as well as switching in the form of a yard and a very large Cemex (could probably be represented by its own switching layout). Thanks for the support, but it just didn’t happen.
