I’m trying to locate a HO Scale N&W USRA Heavy 4-8-2 by Bachmann Spectrum and I’m having a bit of trouble. I’ve tried train shows, ebay, caboose hobbies, trainworld/trainland, google, etc. and can’t seem to locate one. Anyone have one for sale, or know where I can get one (without violating the forum policies?)
Thanks!
Actually, Daniel is looking for the 4-8-2 instead of the 4-8-4.
I have had one for a few years, and I like it. Mine has been re-lettered to be a CB&Q engine.
Daniel: you can save searches on eBay and they will automatically notify you when one is listed.
Did not know that. Thanks. Yes I am looking for a K series loco and not the J. I’ve got one of those.
I have a Bachmann Spectrum N & W Heavy Mountain with sound, but its my favorite loco and I’m not selling it
Good luck with your search. Mines a great runner, creeps along on speed step 1.
I just did a search under 4-8-2 and can up with several Bachman Spectrum LoCos of other ed’s and at least 2 undecorared ones. Hows your painting skills?
The Bachman 4-8-2 would make a decent base to kit bash if you want to build an accurate N&W K2. The other option, that I have done if you want a Baby J (a K2a with J class streamlining) is to shorten up a J class (Bachman, BLI, or MTH if you can find them cheep enough), add some details like the feed water heater, add a 22E tender (the old rivarossi Y6 tender shell is a good stand in), change a few little things, paint it up, decal it and you have a pretty nice loco.

Here is an undecorated on ebay-

I’m trying to find a DCC equipped one in N scale, and so far, no luck under $140.
This gives me some great ideas. There are some local train shows coming up I can check…
