HO Scale Ships and/or Boats

Does anyone know a source of HO scale ships (not more than 18" long) or boats, preferably waterline models? I’ve searched Walthers and Caboose Hobbies with no luck.

I’ve seen a couple of ship models advertised in back issues of MR. Try searching online via the Walthers catalog–here’s what I found under “boat” after paging through a bunch of stuff for U-Boats:

I had better luck searching for “boat” rather than “ship.”

There are a bunch of H.O. ship or boat models out there. Try Sylvan Models web sight they have a nice Great Lakes ore boat and a Laker class freighter. Resin Unlimited has a model of the Edmond Fitzgerald. Also check the model boat magizines. Somewhere I’ve got an extensive list of models. If you’ed like I’ll try and find it. Let me know.

Don:

Have a look at www.sheepscotscale.com they make a number of HO scale working boats: tug, barge crane, coal barge, ferry etc. These are ‘crafstman level’ kits so they may be overkill for your intended use?

Also I did a quick Google search for “HO scale boat” and got many hits. Using that route you may find what you want.

Good luck,

Randy

Don,
Other sites you may want to visit include the resin models from the Dutch firm Artitec, whose stateside distributors include:
http://www.acrossthepond.net and
http://fidelismodels.com. B&F Hobby Shop in Bakersfield apparently no longer imports them.
Also, Sea Port Model Works whose URL is:
http://seaportmodelworks.com
And, Model Shipways used to produce an HO tugboat, but I’m not sure their parent company, Model Expo, is still interested in HO.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Yet another site is:

Look under HO Kits.

Take a look at the Rail-Marine Interest group’s website. They might include some links to additional manufacturer’s websites. Follow the link:

I appreciate all the tips from you guys. I got all the information I wanted!

Lindberg & Revell make a few ships that are close to HO scale,They have a Diesel tug boat, a North Atlantic fishing boat this ones is about 17&1/2inchs long. You can really do alot of things with this one, turning mind into a small tanker. Also Revell makes a sharp fire boat, and a Tuna boat. All these boats run about $20to $25 Dollars.Look at some of the bigger online hobby shops. They seem to run these models every few years.
