Does anyone make these and where can I get one. No brass!
Bachmann has made them - early & late runs - late run better - OK but no cigars![:P]
Bachmann made a standard version with one pancake motored truck, and a Spectrum version with dual motors and flywheels. I found one pancake version on eBay, and you don’t even want to see the price. I’m still in shock.

HOLY [censored]!!! That’s the one I have - paid $30 or so for it new!!![:O]
Holy crap! $200 for that piece of trash?
As mentioned, Bachmann also made an early Spectrum version (black box). These do have twin motors and flywheels and can be made to run quite well. I converted mine to DCC with no problems. Interestingly (or maybe not) it is very quiet…with the shell off.
PM me if you’d like more info.

It’s the cars that are driving the price up. [;)]
I was amazed when a Spectrum version went for over $200 about a year ago, but this is nuts. Why the sudden demand for DD40’s?
Here is another one so far $11.50 DD40X
If you’re a pretty good mechanic, you can put a new drive under the old Bachmann DD40 for probably less than what you’d get a Spectrum for. Here’s how I did mine: http://www.trains.com/TRC/CS/forums/1220520/ShowPost.aspx
