Can any one give me the width and length of a average Ho scale vehicle? I have lots of old kind of vehicles. And want to make sure they are the right size before i use them.
Teach a man to fish moment:
How long is a real automobile? http://www.google.com, search for the vehicle you want (they come in different sizes, eh?). Find length in feet. Multiply by 12 to get length in inches.
In H0 scale, model length will be “vehicle length in inches” divided by 87.1
In N scale, model length will be “vehicle length in inches” divided by 160
Same principle can be applied to any length - people, buildings (where sizes can be estimated by assuming a standard door are about 7 feet tall), railroad cars, road widths or whatever.
For instance, if I google a Ford F-150 pickup truck with a regular cab, I learn that it is 213 inches long, 79 inches wide and 74 inches tall. In H0 scale (1:87.1), those dimensions are:
length 213" → 2.44" (a little less than 2 1/2")
width 79" → 0.9" (i.e. 9/10ths of an inch)

Thanks for the info
A '55 Chevy BelAir would be about 2i/4" by about 3/4". that should get you close for sorting purposes
