ho scale

i do not no what the ho scale is? is it (for example) 1\57 etc please help

it is 1:87 scale

thanx

It stands for “half-O”. When it was first introduced the smallest scale was “O” or “Nought”. All the scales, or “gauges” were known by numbers. Ther were gauges 1, 2 and 3. Larger sizes were referred to by the actual track gauge. Gauge 1 thrives today. Gauge 3 is having a revival here in Britain (1/24th). Gauge 2 is no longer used. Because there cannot be a number smaller than “nought” it was decided to call it “Half-Nought” or “Half-O”, hence “HO”. Just as a matter of interest.
