HO Silverliner EMU's and IHP questions

i’ve been searching for HO scale Silverliner EMU’s, and the only company i’ve seen that makes them is Imperial Hobby Productions. Does any one else make the EMU’s? and I’m not really familiar with Imperial Hobby Productions, has anyone had any experience with them?

Can’t say I’ve ever heard of them. My father-in-law has a pair of brass ones, forget what importer they are - I think maybe Nickel Plate Products. They are absolutely JUNK as far as running goes, the power unit can’t even move itself, let alone pull the trailer. It has some sort of spring belt drive I last saw in a 1950’s movie projector. Once we figure out what to use (probably NWSL, as they are about the only one making a decent self-contained power truck these days, in HO - except they cost more than the models cost!), it will get a new power system so they can be converted to DCC and actually run. For now they sit in their box.

The folks at Imperial Hobby are good guy’s. I have ordered from them before. The quality is good, especially for stuff no one else is making. This company is one of the few making Heavy Commuter Electrics. I am lobbying for them to make the Reading, SEPTA, Penn Central Silverliner II, IV, and now V???

I’ve got a set of IHP Silverliners III, IV and Arrow IIIs, and while they are GREAT models, you have to make sure you put an order in for them if you want them. IHP is very sensitive to ordering, and to many people want stuff but don’t put in the order, then we loose the good models, like the Express kits, which would have allowed us to actually have a fleet of MU cars. You can’t make enough money in the niche hobby to do things like that unless they’ll sell.

I’m going to be putting my money down for some Arrow IIs, and possibly either Reading MUs or Silverliner V models.

Island Model Works is another good source and can be found at: http://islandmodelworks.com/index.html
