I was recently looking through some old MR mags, and I came across a structure that I would like to try and build. But it was in HO scale. I was wondering if there was some kind of conversion from HO to N scale.
For example: Say in HO scale a 4" pipe made out of brass tubing is “x.xxx” . What size would this same 4" pipe be in N scale? I hope that this makes sense and explains what I’m looking for.
Usually the published plans offer the ratios to photo copy them to your particular scale. The two offerings above show you how they arrive at those ratios.
I suppose they still do that, although it’s been a looooong time since I’ve seen scale plans in Model Railroader[#dots]
Many plans used to be published with prototype dimensions. Use a scale ruler to see them in your scale. Many years ago I scratchbuilt a lumberyard from plans in MR. It was quite a large array of structures, and the plans were done in N scale with real dimensions. A scale rule was used to convert the info to HO. Works the other way too, from HO to N or whatever scale.
