Ho Track Layout Software

I’m looking for a Easy to use software to Deisign my new Ho setup i’m looking for easy to use! any sugestions

Try Atlas Right Track Software. You can download it for free from the Atlas web site. I have used it for several years and purchased an eariler version of the software before they started offering the current version for free.

Ditto. I’ve tried the more advanced CAD-based stuff, and there’s a fairly steep learning curve if you’re not already familiar with CAD (and I’m pretty dang computer literate, not just technophobic).

I’ve used RTS to design both my prior layout and the new one I’m currently building, and it proved more than adequate. You’ll hear that it limits you to using sectional track, but I’ve found the it’s pretty easy to use the ‘parallel track’ tool and the flextrack tool to do just about anything you want.

You can find it at www.atlasrr.com

If you have a Mac, try Empire Express. It is simple and inexpensive although without a lot of bells an whistles.

thx for the tip its a pretty good software from what ive seen of it i just need to sit down and read the instructions i guess

Also free – and very nice software – is XtrkCad. Take the time to do the tutorial, and you’ll find it very easy and very precise. Has nice track libraries for several brands of track, and is very good at allowing you to layout flex track as you like. http://www.sillub.com/

Another Mac layout software I really like is RailModeller. IMO, it’s better than Empire Express.

Agreed. It does have a fairly steep learning curve, but after about 40 minutes or so (give or take some - I forget how long the tutorials actually took) it is pretty simple. I’ve used it to design my last two plans, and I found that it was much easier to work with than Atlas’ software. Biggest benefit is that it will add short sections of track where applicable to get a curve “right” when you’re using the conect tracks tool.
