HO TURNOUT

I HAVE A REMOTE TURNOUT WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE LOST ITS ELECTRICAL CONTACT. LOCOS STOP ON IT UNLESS THEY ARE AT HIGH SPEED. THE SWITCH MOTOR WORKS FINE.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Check the rail joiners. Could be some looseness there. I solder all my rail joints just because of this reason.

My layout uses primarily Atlas HO Custom Line turnouts. I found that many of them started having electrical problems as they aged. The most common issue was that the points were no longer getting power from their rivet connection. I fixed this in most cases by soldering a small flexible wire from each switch point to its adjacent stock rail. A few of the turnouts (from a different vintage) had point rails that were cast rather than made from rail, and these were nearly impossible to solder. I replaced those turnouts.

When I install turnouts now, I add wire connections between the points and the stock rails, under the turnout, before installation. I have done this for both Atlas and Peco turnouts, to make sure that I don’t have similar failures down the road.

Had this same problem myself, this should take care of the problem. You also have the option of replacing the switch.
