HO turnouts

In the latest Basic Model Railroading book, in the article about the staff building the Alkai Central,

page 65, Figure 8 there’s a drawing of a turnout toggle. It’s basically a piece of wire bent 90 degrees

with a 90 degree angle.

There is an accompanying phot showing the installation.

However, I can’t make out how this thing gets installed.

Can someone send me a better picture and/or description of how this thing gets installed?

Wow, seems no one posts pictures of this on the web, after a bunch of searches I give up. There should be two sharp bends on the ends, one goes int he hole int he throwbar, the other into a hole either in the roadbed or a few ties away from the throwbar. The principle is pretty simple, the spring is most compressed when the throwbar is in the middle, so it resists moving out of a position lined for either route.
