HO UNCOUPLERS

some assistance please. need some advice for mounting magnetic uncouplers on 18" radius.

i have neodymium magnets that i can use.

You must be talking about Kadee under track magnets and Kadee couplers?

You CANNOT have those on the curves. They will only work on straight sections of track.

As mentioned above, Kadee couplers are meant to couple/uncouple on the straights. While I’ve gotten them to work curves it was often hit and miss.

ok, heard enough–will only use on straights. thanks

You may have heard enough, but have you heard the LION roar?

LIONS only use drawbars. 48 wheel pickup, no couplers at all. Heck LION had a double crossover and it is completely un-powered, trains glide across it like there was no gap there at all.

ROAR

Lion needs attention, where did I put that rolled up newspaper?

BAD kitty! Someone give that cat a book on model railroad wiring! [(-D]

Sprinkled with plenty of catnip!

Yeah, Lions or not, you need a straight section at least as long as the two cars/engines/whatevers you want to uncouple.

Or, seriously, go to the supermarket and get a package of bamboo skewers. Take out a few and flatten the pointed ends a bit with sandpaper. As an absolute diehard fan of remote switches and remote uncoupling, take it from me. It’s a much better way to interact with your trains.

Bamboo skewers, however, won’t help much against any but the most pussycat of Lions.
