Hob-e-tac

I have used Hob-e-tac to erect figures on my layout, and find them falling over. Is there a method to this stuff, or should I just super glue the figures down? I apply the Hob-e-tack to their feet, and hold them upright in my fingers for about 5 minutes, until the adhesive turns clear, then set them down for another 10 minutes before I actualy place them on the layout. They stand fine for a few days, then just fall over! I have ONE figure that has been upright for about two weeks, though he’s leaning quite a bit. [:(!]

mtrails,

The key to successfully using Hob-e-tac is to let it dry absolutely clear FIRST before attaching anything to it. When I use it on tree armitures, it takes about 30 mins. to get it to that point. If you put it on too soon, the foam begins to fall off the branches fairly quickly. Once the Hob-e-tac dries and becomes clear, that’s when it’s tacky.

I confess that I have never tried it to stand up figures, but letting it dry clear should still hold true. If the Hob-e-tac ends up not working well in that situation, rubber cement might do the trick - and it won’t leave a tacky residue. The drying time might be a little longer though. Just a thought…
