On the Model Railroader Magazine home page, on the left side in the column titled “Resources” is a “Find a hobby shop” function. You can search by zip code, city or state. Plugging in “Iowa” yielded 26 hobby shops. Each one has a blue “contact information” button thatbrings up the address and phone number. Unfortunately it doesn’t provide website info, if any exists.

The “World’s Greatest Hobby” website also has a hobby shop locator, but that operates only by zip code. Since I didn’t know where you live in Iowa I didn’t try plugging in a number. But you might want to check out:

The “Retail Directory” section at the back of each issue of Model Railroader shows 3 hobby shop in Iowa that have paid for an announcement in that section. Two were already listed by Patrick. The other one, Hobby Haven in Urbandale, does not list a website.
If you live close to the border, you might also want to search based on neighboring states names also.
By the way, both the Model Railroader Magazine and the World’s Greatest Hobby sites also have club finders that work the same way.
