Hogwart's Castle

I came across a real odditiy at the National Train Show – a Marklin/Trix boxed train set – Loco #5972 w/ the “Hogwart’s Castle nameplate”, 2 coaches, lots of 3 rail HO track and a controller – at the official Marklin booth.

What was odd was the fact that the loco was a (fairly good) model of a 4 cylinder Castle class engine – with the addition of a (totally out of place) headlight in the smokebox door and placement of the 5972 number plate (also incorrectly) on the lower half of the smokebox door – whereas of course the loco in the Harry Potter movies is a 2 cylinder Hall class engine.

I didn’t dare ask how much they wanted for the set!

I looked at that set last year when my son’s Bachman bit the dust. If I remember correctly, it was three-rail.

That sounds like the company dressed up one of their already available sets instead of making a new one.
