I think it’s a great looking set. Lionel isn’t going to have any problems selling them. I love reading all the whining about it on OGR. If the lack of crew figures AND the oversized American-style knuckle couplers don’t bother those clowns, why does the sound of the whistle? It’s a TOY train! Either accept that fact or move on!
I can’t understand why some folks get their skivvies in such a bunch over “Toy Trains” when it doesn’t match up to their expectations of “Prototypical”.
Gentleman, have a beverage of choice and repeat after me “They are toys. they are toys, they are toys”.
May be the toy train fraternity should do some complaining of its own just to annoy the the It Ain’t Proto argument “we could use the its a toy where is the key” that would get them going"
Hey John, good to see you came in out of the garden to visit the “Dark Side”. I got one of these non-prototypical, whistle sucks, wrong color trains on pre-order, my wife is a BIG fan of the HP books/movies so it is her anniversary present but I win also. Do I care if it ain’t prototypical, not no but h*** no.
I still have all my old triang OO trains, and Hornby’s Hogwarts Express and platform 93/4 I am thinking about doing the castle but cannot find anything on it that would help model making
Like your good lady I am a bit of a HP fan have the books and waiting for the latest DVD to come out, missed it at the cinema due to work
As far as “O” goes I have a poor lonely Hornby 4 wheel coach, and a green tender with the number 3435 on it have never been able to find the loco and Key to go with the tender.
Nearly bought a length of brand new “O” tinplate style track of unknown US manufacture on the last trip to the big smoke to sit them on.
I keep threatening to do something in “O” but never quite get there
I have a very set policy with trains if it runs on rails I am interested.
Might see what Lionel’s “G” Polar express is like for the garden, might be a good one for christmas time treated with a bit of care.
I’d like to get one of those Hogwart sets. But I’m on some serious train restriction for a while. Maybe in the spring I’ll pick one up, and resume my search for a set of PW 2344s. The PE Trainsounds tender I’m picking up today will be my last purchase for a while.
Was at Planes and Trains on Monday (Houston TX!) People said there was high interest on the set, and many were not into the hobby. Better get it while you can.
They might come out with a special HWX tender. They are doing so with the Polar.
Add on car: Dementor attack car.
At least I can get Harry, Ron and Miss granger off the platform of my PRR train. Why PRR? They used the square firebox (Belpaire), and used the color red. Not quite the same shade, but used in as a fill in. I just say the main train was in the shop, and brought the PRR train over as a sub! Make my own magic!
