holiday presents....

with the holidays rapidly approaching do you find you get presents for your hobby that you inevitably will never use, modern cars for your steam era layout? I know sometimes you get asked by parents, spouses, and other relatives, but some just guess and you get stuff you ordinarily wouldn;t own. To remedy this, try telling those who don’t quite know to get you a gift certificate from your lhs, it makes those who give happy and you can get what you want. I’m sure we’ve all received something we didn’t need. Just a thought…mike.

Mike you are right this year i am getting my grandparents and other relatives 2 take me to the LHS. so i can get what i want[:D] But yes a gift certificate is another good way of getting what you want. Tim

they also have gift cards based off the credit card companies basically its like a debit card, and they also have reloadable credit cards, which means they arent stuck buying from one store.

i usually get much more practical gifts , like cash [:D] . this year i think i’m getting a gift certificate from home depot that will mostly get spent on tools , because after all you can never have too many tools !

this may change once i actually start construction of the layout , various family members have been known to conspire to get gifts that are exactly what the giftee wants

All my relatives always ask my wife what I want and I always have a list ready.

i’m thinking about asking for a gift certificate or something from my parents. i’m going to a show on saturday so i don’t really know what i’ll want after that. i don’t have much time to do anything with the layout being so far away.

hopefully i can get a gift certificate or something for christmas.

My LHS is even better, for regular customers, they will put the actual items you want aside. So your wife, parent, or who-ever, can come are poke through your selections. They gift certificates too.

Nick.

What holiday? looking at my calendar I find 9 or 10 holidays per year, each appears with a specific name attached to that particular holiday, rather than just “holiday” It would be correct to identify each holiday by it’s proper name as not to confuse anyone with the broad term----holiday, this way we can correctly identify that specific occasion.

Not me…except from my parents, who know exactly what I want! Last christmas I got a toy racecar set, ages 3-8, how immature do they think I am? From my parents though, it’s never out of era, be it an SD90 or a CPA16-4!
