One or two Great Model RR issues ago the mention was made of using homasote spline. Also I believe Allen McLelland used it on his V&O. Both have said how good it is. Anyone else have experience with it. It seems to be a good idea to me and I’m planning on using it on my new layout. Would the risers at 16" OC be ok?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

I was going to do this myself but was not able to find homasote around where I live. I ended up going with 1/8" masonite spline roadbed. It has worked perfectly and the waste is very minimal. I am running my support between 16 and 12 inches on center and have had zero problems. Hope this helps, Mike.
Mark,
Don’t know if you’ve checked this already, but the Homasote Company has an online listing of their dealers at their Web site:

check stained glass supply stores in your area. we use it to assemble stained glass panels. easy to stick pins in to hold everything together before soldering.

Mike;
Thanks for your comments. How much work was it using the 1/8" masonite?The reason I like the homasote method over the masonite is that the homasote is 1/2" vs 1/8 or 1/4". This means less cutting and assembling. Also the homasote spline can be shaped and used as your roadbed in addition to being your sub roadbed.
Thanks,
Mark
