HOn2½ Boxcabs for the Quarry Line

Here’s a project I worked on back in 2016. It was a tribute to a forum member that had passed away. They did a memorial tribute challange build. I have always wanted to post this on my website, but never got around to it. I figure this will be a good way to get back to posting here and getting it on my website.

I’ll post a couple of high light pictures here and you can follow on my website with the more detailed build of the how’s and why’s. So I started off with this this, an “N” scale DD40.

And wound up with this.

For detailed information on how it was built go here: HOn30 Box Cabs (kingstonemodelworks.com)

The first page gives the details of how the shell was designed and built. I’ll keep adding to this post as I get the sections of this build written up for the website. The last picture and end of the first section is this picture.

Enjoy and if you have questions ask them here in the thread so everybody can benifit from the disscusion.

Hi Bernd,

Good to see you posting again!

I like the little locomotives! I’m jealous of your milling machine.[swg]

Dave

Thanks Dave. Some people have 3D printers, Ihave milling machines. I’m more into subtractive machining than subtractive machining. [:D]

Bernd

Impressive!

Simon

Nice clean lines and a believeable design make for a convincing model. Nice work, Bernd!

Simon & Mike, thank you for the kind words. Mike - It goes to show that if you use 1:1 design rules and apply them to a scale model it should look plausible for a free lance model.

I added how I attached the shell to chassis.

Enjoy.
