I want to build a layout in HOn3, using N scale track, turnouts, etc. I have a fair number of HO scale vehicles, figures, etc, and some building materials. My question involves converting locos and rolling stock from HO to HOn3. I will be kitbashing HO scale items, and I know the scale ratios for N and HO, but I am not sure what “scale” to use, to convert HO scale rolling stock and locomotives to HOn3. Of course, I understand that I could just put N scale trucks on HO scale rolling stock. I know that the track gauge in HOn3 is the same as N scale, but I can’t convert the items based on that, as I would simply come out with N scale cars and locos running in an HO world. What I need to know is: what ratio should I use to reduce these items to the proper in-between scale, representing narrow gauge gear in the proper “scale.”
