I’m not so sure people would recommend one site over another. If you look through the threads, you will see who has had positive or negative experience with variuous internet hobby shops. The final decision would of course rest entirely with you.
Many people will offer sites that they have done business with. Again check through the threads (use the search feature at the top of the page) and you will get quite a bit of information.

Check this out, When I go to NEw York to buy gold on Canal Street which is the gold district. I run into alot of people, crooks selling truck loads of “hot” stuff and of course gold dealers. Now everytime I see these “Alley sellers” They offer so many different items from Jewelry, Electronics, clothes, and etc etc. I wi***hat one day, just one day I can run into a guy selling a truck load of “hot” HO scale stuff. LOL I would buy it all up and be the best Interenet dealer out there. [;)] Till then you will have to keep searching.
One place I recommend NOT to do business with - HobbyCircle.
You’ll wait for your order forever and will be charged some arbitrary amount that he probably took out of thin air.
I remember I waited 2 month for my order even though he charged my card the minute I ordered.
TrainWorld is fine, InternetTrains is OK, but keep an eye on any problems and act swiftly.

Just one guy there and you get personal service. And in my experience a lot better than personal service at my LHS, even though I never met this guy Tom in person.
And his prices are very competitive.
Trainworld enjoys a good reputation but do it by their 1-800 # and make sure it’s in stock
I’ve had no problems getting stuff out of Tony’s Train Exchange. Helpfull advice only a phone call away, which from the UK is very(!) reasurring.

They too have excellent service. I ran into an Athearn Challenger Loco
mechanical problem and they bent over backwards to take care of it .

I’ve had good experiences with internettrains.com, discounttrainsonline.com, MBKlein (modeltrainstuff.com) cchobbies.com and Manhattantrains.com. From what I’ve read here, Tony’s and Loy’s are good also.
I suggest that you spend some time reading some of the previous threads. There are plenty giving the pros and cons of lots of retailers.
Tom’s web site is horrible, but I have purchasd many things from him and have always fround him to be friendly, efficient and good prices. I would reccomend him to anyone.
do YOU WANT TO SAVE A FEW DOLLARS ON ALMOST EVERYTHING THAT tONYS tRAINS SELL? I MEAN ALMOST ALL LITCHFIELD stations items for DCC are a few dollars cheaper than Tony’s and if not you can call them and he will beat the price.

I have driven up to Tony’sTrains in Essex Junction, Vermont, and found the prices very good, beat everyone I could check in New England, and very helpful.
For you guys in Massachusetts, Tucker’s Hobbies, in Warren, Mass. is excellent also.
Since I model N scale I like and have had very good luck with Brooklyn Locomotive Works. Good prices and quick turnaround.
