Yes indeed, I was in the LHS looking for a $1.00 drill bit and “tripped over” the then newly released Proto 2000 Heritage Steam Berkshire, I left with a $1.00 drill bit, a $390.00 Berkshire and a $1,000.00 grin.
Yeah,that happens to all of us…I like stopping at the out of the way hole in the wall Mom and Pop hobby shops…Some times its like finding treasure chest of goodies.[:D]
I was looking for weathering chalks. My LHS, which is usually very well stocked, has lots of paints but no chalks. I tried another place, not as close, but on the way to my beer supply depot, and found a set of chalks. “No, no, no,” said the guy behind the counter. You don’t want those chalks, you want these chalks." He pointed out a far better set, for less money. Then he gave me some pointers, and a flyer about his seminar series, which included an evening of weathering in a couple of weeks.
