horns&numbers boards

I need to put some horns&numberboards on some f7s what type or style should i use trying to stay with prototype. if ican 1 f7 will be in soo and the rest are my road.thanks frank

i dont now if it would matter but the f7s are vintage varney 40s

It depends on what prototype you’re modeling: What road/era are you planning on having them be?

i want to stay in late 40s-mid 50s one is a soo 3 are my road it&t .ironton,toledo&twinsburg. thanks frank

Are you missing the number board housing leaving a hole in the nose? Or do you just need to number the unit? If it is the housing that’s needed, use Detail Assoc. large angled ones. As already said, the horns will depend on the road, era and any shopping of the unit. Locate a pic of the unit you would like to model and go from there.

Usually on the F-units the locomotives had something called a blat horn. A single horn on each side the cab one high pitched the other low pitched. At the North Shore Senic railroad in Duluth we have a FP7, That locomotive has a blat horn. Nuber board wise… well they’re usually what you would see on a SD accept the number board itself is mounted inside the locomotive behide a glass number board caseing.
