Sure took a long time to make the repair arrangements. Contrast with the North Shore Line, which began repairs on a 700-series coach on January 18, 1963 … it was still up on a hoist at abandonment.
One would hope AMTRAK would be indemnified by the trucking company for the cost of repairs.
All this because somebody can’t stay off the tracks. Makes one wonder when people will wake up and stop, look, and listen.
I hopr the trucking company and its insurance carrier cover these costs of movement and subsequent repair to the damaged equipment; Amtrak certainly can ill afford to do it …and it was not Amtrak’s fault either.
I have a CDL “A” and heard enough from drivers being ignorant about railroad crossings. Don’t know about the saying “If it won’t fit, don’t commit”? If there is a traffic signal at an intersection AFTER the tracks and that light is green after i’ve started across the tracks before the road, and there is NO ADVANCE TRAFFIC SIGNAL, to hell with the traffic light, I’m coming thorugh, and that is leagl! I entered the intersection while the light was green! Too many traffic engineers that desing these intersections have their heads up their behinds!
