Keep it 30th Street Station.
A historic name like ‘30th Street Station’ should never be changed. Would they dare change the name of Independence Hall!!?
Only highways should be named for politicians. They collect heaps of droppings from passing vehicles, which is symbolic of the role politicians play in our society.
I understand that Jackie Kennedy was instrumental in the saving of Grand Central Station, they didn’t try renaming it for her did they?
In 1944 I received my draft physical at 30th st station–also departed from there for Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island SC.
It will always be 30th Street Station no matter what those guys in DC do. The other commenters have it right too - 30th Street!
I grew up in suburban Philadelphia and spent much time at 30th Street, Broad Street and the “Chinese Wall” before it was torn down. Yes, a former official of the Pennsylvania Railroad would be a better choice if at all the name has to be changed, which it shouldn’t.

Shame on you people for criticizing our Lords And Masters in Washington, D.C. Why, the very nerve of little people such as the poor, befuddled oafs who frequent this website - don’t you realize that these Titans of Intellectual Superiority were educated in the finest of our Institutions of Higher Learning? Are we not dazzled and awed by their brilliance as they perform their daily wonders in Congress? After all, they claim solidarity with the masses, as they strive to Make Our Lives Better by taxing and regulating everything we do! Instead of this petty complaining, we should be bowing toward DC every day and giving Praise and Thanks. Simply stated, they are Better than us, and we should be happy to take whatever crumbs they see fit to throw our way.
Now excuse me, I have to go and throw up.
Hey, the electrical gods changed cycles per second to hertz. Ohms, volts, newtons, watts, and so on are examples of things named to honor pioneers. You watch what Wall Street does not the Bernie Madoff pyramid society. Next they will sell naming rights to the “White House”

Mr Roberts: please capitalize “Watt”, an ancestor of mine. Instead of moaning, rent the “Lincoln Bedroom” (he never slept there). Most of its old furnishings are ensconced in Chappaqua, NY.
“Congress Passes Bill to Name Railroad Cross Ties for Campaign Volunteers.”
That too shall come to pass.
Rubbish. Why don’t they do something useful!
History has it as 30th. street station built by the biggest railroad in the country, Mighty Pennsylvania . I say leave it be.
Lets HOPE they don’t CHANGE the name. There is plenty the politicians should be doing.
I go along with naming sewage tunnels after politicians! Best idea ever! Just leave 30th st as it is and always has been!
It would appear that certain politicians don’t have enough to do, such that they need to invent things to do that really don’t need to be done and in fact perhaps should not be done. I’m sure the voters who elected them have more pressing concerns on their minds and I hope they will attempt to re-direct the attention of their elected officials to those issues. “30th Street Station” has been perfectly good ever since that magnificent place was opened to the public decades ago.
This is nonsense! 30th Street Station it is and should remain so. It is at the center of the greatest rail empire this nation has seen.
Leave well enough alone!
Disgracefully, as of this writing, the US Senate, also passed a companion bill to honor Grey. Fattah, when he represented Cheltenham Township where I live, did absolutely nothing for this constituency–not even a newsletter. Grey, his predecessor, resigned from Congress to escape criminal investigation.
Pennsylvania Station 30th Street deserves the dignity this great majestic historic architectural monument radiates on its own.
Better it be levelled than assosciated with the likes of Grey!
