Houston Layout Tour/Photo intense

I took some photos today of Mike Spoor’s Layout He models the

CB&Q in Illinois in 1954.It’s a large multi room layout

with some really good backdrop painting excellent track work and very well done

control panels

This Really Cool Corn field was made using Indoor/Outdoor carpet and then pulling out every other row

The layout is fully signalled

Great looking Water

Nice depth to this scene

Great Backdrop !!!

Great looking photos. How big is the layout? It looks impressive.

Love the backdrops! They blend in very well.[tup]

Looks like a nice layout and now i’m sorry I missed it. IH 10 was closed this weekend and you know what that means. Traffic nightmare from downtown to the west side! Spent today planting more trees and then had to go to a Christmas party with my wife. Maybe next year i’ll get on that side of town for the layout tours if they ever get through with that blasted freeway…chuck

I can only guess. It wanders thru 3 small rooms on the top floor of his townhome

but at least 200 ft of double mainlines with two large yards that have block detection

It’s a beauty.

Kudos [bow]

Very nice!

But for Houston (I lived there btw) I would expect some SP action! Photos please!

Yes Chuck traffic was a mess even us locals that know all the shortcuts had a tuff time this weekend

It used to be called the Katy Freeway now it’s Known as the Katy Crunch

SP Huh ?

Well the best i can do is give you a link to Tom Cobbs Layout

Since Mike’s layout is just off Westheimer, the easy way there from the northeast (we drove in from Cleveland) was straight down 59 to the Fountainview exit then up to Westheimer, then west a couple of blocks. You may want to keep that in mind for next year. No need to use I-10.

Traffic was actually worse at the layout than on the highway getting there. There were lots of visitors when we were there and he has several narrow bottlenecks where two people can’t pass in the aisles.

But it’s a nice layout and worth a visit.
