Houston Metro opens new station
The name “Central Station” can be deceptive to the uninitiated. Prospective rail travellers may think it serves intercity trains.
Railfan’s definitions may not be dictionary accurate; but let me offer these suggestions, though any place where people board rail vehicles can be called a station. Likewise for a depot, although I think that it implies some kind of express or freight facility.
A terminal originates or terminates trains.
A station is a place where trains run thru, arrive and depart.
For instance it was LAUPT, but when trains ran from San Diego to Santa Barb, it became LAUPS. .
