How about a case of complete stupidity

Hello everybody,

decided to take the car to the local VIA/GO station in Guelph to do some rail fanning. When I arrived I saw the old train station, the new additions for passenger shelters, the local transit systems bus stops, but no where to park my car. There was no designated parking place, a couple of blocks away there was a parking garage build for the local mall, but no where to park a car. So this means that after many years of political urging the city of Guelph finally got a GO train, BUT the smart city officials forgot that some people have to rely on their vehicle to make it to the GO station. Every other GO station has parking for cars, except Guelph. Someone needs to have their head examined. The irony is that City Hall is a few blocks away and they have lots of parking but for their employees. [}:)]

Eh…not surprising anymore.

I’ve heard that before…maybe there is an ‘idea’-note the scare quotes-that if one does not provide parking the powers that be can look at the disappointing numbers of people using GO and say “See? See? We told you it would not work!”

I know I’m reaching here but one never really knows…[*-)]

Thinking more that rail riders will be green to and from the station. Either walking, cycling, running, car pooling or taxieing to/from each day. So, therefore in the new world order, no need to allow for parking as there IS no need to parking as other ‘alternatives’ are there. So the 20 somethings will walk, cycle or run each way while everyone making a living gets there to work via Dodge Brother truck. when planning meets reality, strange things do happen.[:O]

Hmmm, according to Via, there is no parking at Guelph Station due to construction. [:'(]

I live in Guelph…and the lack of parking presently is due to the ongoing construction. There’s a large parking garage within a 2 minute walk of the train station that should suffice until the construction is completed.

I smell irony here…

If you really want to see rampant stupidity in action…go and visit the bus station (the former CNR train station) in Sherbrooke, QC… [(-D]
