How are we posting photos now?

I now have me a nice digital camera and a Flickr account. I should be able to post pictures now. I have looked for instructions but can’t find them. Can someone tell me how it’s done?

Thanks,

George

I will try. Not sure about your host, as most I know use Shutterfly. Hopefully it will work for you. All I do is bring up the photo from the host & right click on it & hit COPY . Then close that all out & go to the forum & on there, I just right click again & hit PASTE !! It’s even easier now than before, as we don’t use the [img] feature, although that method will work too, & have had to use it in my signature.

Hope this works with your host & I explained it good !

Thanks, John

Old instructions here: http://www.cuppleshobby.com/photoposting_instruct/

Ok, it looks like that worked. I know it is a real train and not a Lionel but I’m experimenting here.

Thanks,

George

Well it looked like it worked when I hit “preview”, but the picture went away when I hit “submit”. Well ,it’s late. I’m tired. I try again in the morning.

George,

I personally have not had luck using on this forum since it’s been ‘upgraded’. I have to use the cut/paste method, which quite often is NOT my preference. Cut/Paste does work though.

I just now thought of something: Maybe it’s . Do caps matter?

And you’re not the first person on this forum that said their picture showed in preview but not after posting it.

I came back to edit this - it was pretty dumb what I posted before in regard to showing what didn’t work for me any longer! I had IMG inside left and right brackets and also /IMG and then asked if caps mattered.

In my situation I have been unable to post pic’s since the “upgrade”. I have tried everything including downloading Firefox which at least showed me the smiley icon’s but they didn’t work either. I did contact Bob Keller and he was kind enough to try and help me but it seems like it’s trying to walk through a dark room the first time. IMO the programmers have done a poor job with this particular scenario and have failed to provide a useful way of posting for Mac users. I use the newest OS X Tiger program available and it’s not like I just fell off the turnip wagon when I am on the computer. Oh well, perhaps next week the IT guy’s can take this as a challenge and fix the software. Jon

And to top it off there are some other little idiosyncrasies in the software system, too.

For example:

  1. You can only see one reply at at time when posting on a topic.
  2. The illustrated smiley menu is not available.
  3. The highlight drop down menu has not worked for me.
  4. If you email a member, the member can not automatically email you back unless you send him your email address. The old system worked great!

So how do these little bugs happen???..Hmmmm, could it be that the objectives of the programming team were different than the desires of the members of the forum. Several of the features on the old forum software did not work correctly, i.e. avatars. Either the IT people did not want to change the avatar problem or they could not fix it, possibly due to costs, but it never worked.

As they say begger’s can’t be choosy and the forum is free, [^] but the quality does reflect on the Kalmbach Publishing Company. [B)]

EDIT: Item No. 3 above was typed with the same font at the other items, but on my screen it is showing a different font!!

On other forums that I belong to we simply have an attachment feature (just like E-Mail)
there you “Browse” your own computer, select and image or file, click “Attach” and then
PRESTO the file or picture is part of your reply/message. This seems to be the “norm” on
most other forums, how com not here? Just asking , not bashing. Thanks.

BTW…Just remember…not everyone is “computer literate” and that seems to be why
the above method is becoming common on most boards. Ease of use. That’s the key!

Bob K., please make sure Bergie reads these emails, it’s about customer service and I know that’s important to you folks. It appears that at least in my case and a few others that we’ve taken two steps back and one step sidewsays. Jon

TEST:

Handcar at logging camp in Bemis Maine.

Working good.
