Where’s the foam cradle to put them upside down in while they reinstall the wheels?[:o)][D)][(-D]

Thanks for the great shots!

Dave

If anyone isn’t familiar with Jack Delano, just do a Google search on his name and click the images tab. You’ll get hundreds of pics.

Here’s my favorite pic of his…

Great photos from a Great Site, however I just can’t help myself…

http://www.shorpy.com/node/14494?size=_original#caption …my favourite Shorpy shot.

Cheers, the Bear.

Bear:

Judging by the smoke coming from the stacks and the moderate splash at the bow, she was still making progress!

Very interesting to see the cargo, and to think that those steam engines (tractors) were state of the art at the time. My sister in law’s new husband (brother is deceased unfortunately) is a modern day farmer. His tractors, of which he has several, cost more than a half million bucks each! Heck, he just ordered a new crop sprayer for $400,000 plus. The old one was worn out after only two years!

Boggles my mind!

Sorry, [#offtopic]

The greatest train station in the greatest city in the world provided to you by the greatest forum member.

Rich

P.S. Be sure to View Full Size

[#offtopic] Yeah Dave, as a farm boy in the early 70s, a 60 hp tractor was the bees knees, now all 60 hp gets you is virtually an overgrown Garden tractor !!

Rich, I wonder who was it that lost their claim to immortality in the bottom left of your photo.[:(]

Cheers, the Bear.

Yep, that’s a ghost all right

Sam

LOL, I had not noticed that. Pretty eerie.

I think You really did,get hit in the head, with a Golf ball.[(-D] But the ghost,is neat. [wow]

Cheers, [D]

Frank

You are welcome, Frank, and thank you for your kind words.

Rich

Knot to pick on too many knits…

Those are NOT engines. The engine is the part that is MISSING! The engine consists of the pistons, the drivers, the crank gear and the wheels. What you are looking at is a boiler and firebox assembly together with the control suite and cab.

When the mate this with the engine, you will have a locomotive.

ROAR

Rich,

A little ‘‘Sharpy’’, this morning,eh??[(-D] [(-D] ‘‘Blondie,you know,what you are’’, ‘’ Eli Wallach’',The Ugly…

Cheers, [D]

LION, at the risk of being eaten alive for being so bold, I have to point out that hon30critter was referring to the steam powered tractors in JaBear’s photo link when he mentioned “engines”, so methinks he was correct.

Rich

Shorpy is great.

One of my favorites. http://www.shorpy.com/node/9811

Now this is a station! http://www.shorpy.com/node/299?size=_original#caption

Not just railroads but Shorpy shows a great history of life.

Pete

And LION was speaking of Shorpy Pictures.

Lion,

Got to hand it to you Lion, you are correct. [Y] First pic, ‘‘An Engine, being carried,Etc.’’
