How Close (Or Far) Are You From The Nearest Amtrak Station?

There have been several topics on here talking about high speed and commuter rail and what should be done about them. But, how close does everyone live to an Amtrak or commuter rail station?

I’m about 28 miles from the nearest one, Spartanburg, SC, which has some rather bad hours for the north-south service on the Crescent. Second closest station that serves other trains than the Crescent would be Charlotte, NC which is a good 90 miles away.

10 Miles Gastonia NC .Crescent LTD.

About 15 to the Metra Harvard, Il station or 22 to Fox Lake. The latter line goes into Chicago Union Station and my ticket to over 500 Amtrak destinations. (or so)

About 20 miles from the Eugene, OR station.

The amtrak shak in Bryan is about 20 miles away. The station in Fostoria is about 90 min away.

I have my choice of two. #1 is in Davis Ca. about 25mi and #2 is in downtown Sacramento Ca. 40mi away. It all depends which way I’m going as to what station I use.

I live 27 miles from the Omaha, neb. train station.

About 25 miles from Chicago Union Station.

About 45 miles to Port Kent, NY on Lake Champlain. About 3 to 4 hours by bicycle.

!6 miles from Los Angeles,20 miles from Fullerton, which I usually use because parking is free.

6 Miles. NEC.

About 70 miles to the Syracuse NY station.

About 15 miles. But I am only 12 miles from work!

About 5 miles.

…About 65 miles to Indianapolis…Cardinal and Hoosier State…Believe they both still run.

I am about 15 miles east of the one in Cleveland, Ohio. To bad the times are in the middle of the night.

23 miles from Cleburne, 32 miles from Fort Worth, Texas… The Texas Eagle and the Heartland Flyer…

Fort Worth is also end of track for the Trinity River Express…

DFW Airport is further, 45 miles away…

Heh… great topic. The Amtrak station I’m closest to isn’t built yet – Milwaukee Airport station, ~2 miles away, will be good fer catchin’ Hiawathas once it’s done. Otherwise downtown is ~5 miles away.

Wonder how railfan-friendly the new station will be? [%-)]
