How did it know?

Hi!

Warning!

I’m back!

I’ve had a slight row with my old ISP (Virgin). If anyone noticed that I had disappeared that was why.

I now have a new ISP… which is the reason for the question… How did the MR Computer know who this new E mail address was? Amazing![:)]

Anybody who was sending messages please accept my apologies for having vanished and send them again if you will.

Hope you are all well. [8D]

I would suspect that your cookies handled the transction. I wuld suggest you edit your profile to show the new e-mail address.

“How did the MR Computer know who this new E mail address was?”

Probably from the cookies that your computer ate.

Yep! It is because the site recognized your computer. It has nothing to do with the ISP you are using at any given time. When I was at Boy Scout Camp a couple weeks ago, I was able to get right into the site with my laptop using a wireless router out there. The site just found the little script (cookie) that it puts on the computer and lets me in. Now, if you clear your cache and delete your cookies, you will have to sign back in and give your password, mother’s maiden name, and your bloodtype to log on…[;)]

Oh and yes, you need to update your profile.

I said it wasn’t me leaving all those crumbs round the workstation! [;)]

Um… there’s been a lot of stuff here lately about scams on the internet… seem to recall one on this forum and talk about safe ways of providing my E mail address… Would someone lighten my darkness please?

Yep, it had to be the cookies, they always leave a trail…
