How did this happen? A Seaboard Air Line SW1 has invaded my 1920 SP themed branchline layout...

True enough…I admit to taking leave of my senses upon viewing this S helper Service offering and just had to have it…Now, wouldn’t you know it, i’ve also discovered some purple and silver FP-7s for the Atlantic Coast Line courtesy of American Models. This could be a dangerous precedence, S models that don’t require untold hours to kitbash or scratchbuild, open the box and enjoy, further detailing optional… My new modeling motto: one must savor the elation of a new purchase so vastly different from the usual… Dave

Does any of us have senses to take leave of when it comes to trains? When do we get to see pictures?

Tom

Better be careful or you’ll start building some of Pacific Rail Shops 1937 AAR boxcars.

Ah, yes - another railfan discovers the beauty of Southeast RR history. ACL purple and silver units, SAL red/silver/black switchers and citrus scheme units were a long time coming for us Florida modelers. Below is a link to one of my models that predates the P2K E8 SAL units by 10 years.

The Intermountain FP-7s are a dream come true for ACL fans everywhere.

Cheers!

Cmarchan,

Gorgeous work! Nice touch with the class lights and M5 horn.

The prototype regularly hauled the Silver Meteor and Silver Star between New York and Florida.

That could be a slipperly slope. Before long you will have storage bins full of “vastly different from the usual” models and not enough space to even get them out of the box to look at. Experience speaking here…
