Can someone please tell me how to clean latex rock molds? The eight Bragdon Enterprises molds I have is expensive so I want to do it right.
I’ve always just cleaned mine with water and a small pick to get left over plaster out of the little detail areas. Never saw any degradation or damage.
warm soapy water does the trick…chuck
I just used dish soap and water and hand rubbed them. Rinsed well and patted dry.
Hope that helps.
If you are using Joels Geodesic Foam system , the preperation is paramount to prevent damaging molds, Follow the directions to a tee, a light vasoline covering, being sure to get it into the nooks and cranneys of the mold( this is where it will stick) .White laqour spray covering, be sure its set then apply the cast satin and geodesic foam as per the instructions.
To Clean the Molds, roll it with your fingers to get the hard pieces out, a slight thumb nail pressure is enought. If you have a mold treated with the vasoline and laquor, and dont use it for a day or two, then use a water nozzel and be carefull with the full pressure, work from center to the outside, keeping the mold on a flat surface…
If you use a plaster type product, spray the mold with wet water before filling with plaster. This will work as a mold release agent. I would place it in a soapy pail of water when the plaster is removed from the mold, to prevent the plaster from compleatly air curing, then spray it when you get around to it…
Be sure you know the mold relase for the product being used
If your using Bragadons Geodesic scenery you will be greatley impress with it,…hope this helps as I know the price of the molds and felt the way you do now, so dont worry just follow Bragadons instruction, if ya need help holler…John
