I am not familiar with what video formats Photobucket accepts. This needs to be known. Video file formats are named pretty much for their file extension (the last 3 letters of file name [3 letters right of the period]).
You would need to know what they accept so that you dont convert your video into something they wont play. Thus, making your efforts worthless. Once you know what the site handles, you can convert to one.
You also need to know what “codecs” you have, and also, what your converter is capable of inputting, and outputting. Codecs are for a lack of better words, a translator. When a video is played, it requires a translator (of sorts) in order to understand the format of the video. Kinda like if you speak French and I dont, we arent gonna communicate. A codec in this case would be the “universal translator”.
Even though you uploaded your video, it may play on some peoples puters without the grey box as intended. You yourself, may not have the “codec” to play it on your puter. This doesnt happen as much as it did ten years ago. But i come across it alot doing HTML coding. (browser type/version can play a part in this as well).
Pretty much everything is moving to a standard like .mp4 (windows applications) or .mov (crApple applications). The ‘.mp4’ (pron: Emm Pea 4) and ‘.mov’ (pron: Dot Moooove) are the “file extensions” i mentioned above.
So, once you know what format Photobucket accepts, and your up to date on your codecs, browser, video player, if your file still doesnt play, then you can convert it. Always pays to double check.
Should you find you do need to convert, i recommend (disclaimer: by experience only, i have no affiliation with this software) “Converter Lite”. It is a free download, has alot of formats for music, video, pictures etc.
It is also super easy to use… click and drag file, select format to convert to, hit convert button. Its th
