Hi Guys
I have a damaged Bachmann E-Z track turnout that I want to replace, the only problem is that its nailed down. How do I go about creating enough slack in the track to pull it out. I don’t want to have to pull up all the track and ruin all my scenery.
I Hope somebody could answer this for me

OUCH !! Perplexing ,yes, but possible.
You will do some and have to expect to redo
some scenery. Pull it up with gentle pressure and
pull up the adjoining tracks for at least one foot.
You may even be surprised to find that in doing
this, you will or may improve the scenery when put
back together. DO IT, otherwise your operations will
not be as good as they need be. The running of the
train is more important than the scenery at this point.

I don’t know the E-Z Track system but I suppose it has protuding pegs that snap with the next piece of rail.What I suggest is to simply cut the rail and turnout base vertically slightly short towards the turnout side(it’s no good anyway) so that you could pull it up without lifting any of the neighbouring rails.A Dremel tool with a cutting disk can be of great help for this.Then you could trim the area(rail edges,turnout base,scenery) and the new turnout by cutting the extrusions flush so that it can be dropped in vertically.This would reduce the area of scenery to be redone to the surface of the turnout alone.
Electrical conductivity could then be restaured by carefully welding the track edges.It may seem a bit complicated but that’s what I’d try before redoing a lot of scenery.
