You already have the photobucket account, so try this:
Copy the URL of your photo to have it ready.
Where you want the photo, type “[img”. Then a closing “]”
Then Type “[/img]”.
Now, put your cursor between those two lots of square brackets and paste your URL.
Should work like that. Sorry I forget the trick Joe Fugate explained so that I could type that out for you. If I type the code as given above in para 2 the screen shows a red cross in a square [:P]
Yeah it works. But why should we have to learn all this code nonsense??
If you have photobucket, you do not need to do all that. Under each photo is three lines. The bottom of the three already has the IMG tags included, just copy and paste that link and you are good to go.
I wish this info was stickied on all the forums here to make life a bit easier for all.
Also check this link for more info/discussion (this must be the 6th time I have posted this [:)])
Good post pathfinder. We need to keep these answered. I have posted this about six times as well. When I was trying to figure it out, some of you guys answered my post about 5 times and I appreciated that, it took me so long to catch on.
I have learned , with my computer, that all I have to do is put the curser over the IMG line at Photobucket and left click once. I then use Control c to copy. Then use the window tab at top to jump to the Thread I am posting in. Put the curser where I want the pic, do a Control V and it is done. I have learned it looks a little better if I put a space between the pics.
Easiest way in photobucket is to copy the bottom of the three “tags” they give you, as it already has the img /img code as part of the “tag”. Just paste it in and away you go.
The img tag has worked for evey picture I have posted, even non-photobucket ones. Can you give an example of a web site where it does not work? Then I can look at it.
I doubt Bergie (or anyone else from Trains.com) will respond, they have not to date.
I assume the IMG tags will only work for images hosted on a website that allows outside linking. Using the tags for any image found on any site will probably not work. We have supplied advice on how to post photos, but it seems some want to do it a different way. Good luck!
That is the beta version, no? I have heard that due to the very tight security in that, a lot of things that used to work do not work now but I use Firefox, so have no first hand experiance with IE 7. Maybe someone else can chip in.
I’m gald its not just Photobucket then … I’ll try and post some links below.
Bob - I’ve been posting from my own website. It does allow other sites to embed images as my wife frequently uses it on other boards and her blog.
When I have tried using the [*img] tag system even if I hand type the url it doesn’t work, I get a broken link icon and sometimes extra giberish, like this:
On the other hand I’ve just tried a different method - copying the image and pasting with ctrl V - and that now seems to work …
