how do I put a sound and DCC decoder into a KATO locomotive?

Hi Modelrailroaders.[8D] I need to know what is the best sound and DCC decoder for my BNSF Ac4400cw locomotive. Do you know what the best sound and DCC decoder is.

Sincerely
Ryan LaPlaca

What scale?

Your choices are limited to LokSound, SoundTraxx, or MRC for after-market sound decoders. Which is best is a matter of personal opinion and my opinion is that I would never, ever use an MRC decoder in anything.

Check the SoundTraxx web site – some time later this year they hope to be releasing a diesel version of their new Tsunami decoder, but if their track record with the steam version is any indication I don’t expect to see one available until late 2007 – but it will be worth waiting for if it is anything like the steam Tsunami.

Digitrax is suppose to be releasing a plug and play sound decoder package for the AC4400CW’s made by Kato in HO scale. I’ve been waiting for their release for awhile now.

I’ve been waiting for that too, the new sound decoder/speaker are made for the Kato F40PH, SD-38 (that’s what I have) and AC-4400. I just put a normal “plug and play” 8-pin decoder in the Kato SD-38, which I’ll replace when (if??) the Digitrax sound decoder comes out.
