I am bidding on some prewar rolling stock that is going to need some restoring. I have never done this before. I would like to hear from you guys the best way to go about doing this.
You’re in for some rough sledding if you want to try to restore these. They all look to be litho cars as opposed to enameled. It is possible to restore litho but it is a very time consuming process and I’ve only known one person who tried it with any degree of success.
If the metal is good, it may be worth working with, if you keep the price at about $2 per car. If it goes much more than that, I would pass. One poster here has done a good bit of restoration on these cars. he goes by the name “moretorestore”. I think he could help with the particulars.
