I have tried several times to post pictures on this forum, but with no success. Can anyone help me and tell me how to post pictures.
Thanks
You can only link to pictures already on the internet. Type in a left bracket img right bracket followed by the internet address then left bracket /img right bracket. There should be no space between the brackets and what is contained within them.
Use the quote feature to see the code for the example below.
Find a webhost, such as www.railimages.com and get an account from them (there are others). Once you are ‘approved’, upload whichever prints you want to your page on the host’s site.
Then, as Eric says, you right click on the image on the site, and click on ‘properties’. When that opens, hilight the URL for the image near the middle of the window. Go up to “Edit” at the top left of your main window, and click on it, then on ‘copy’. Minimize your image host’s page, and open the trains page you want to post your images to. Click on a reply or new post, and go back up to “edit” at the top left of your page. Click on “paste”, and your image URL that you hilited will appear.
Don’t forget to breath. Now would be a good time. [:D]
Next, place your cursor at the front of the URL…click. Place a ‘{’ there (not a parenthesis, such as (, but the one above ‘[’.) With no space, type ‘img’, followed by a ‘}’. Next, at the end of your URL, with no space, type a “{”, a “/”, then “img”, and finally “}”. You won’t see a thing, but when you go back to read your post, that image will be there.
One thing more, use the enlarged, already clicked image, for your URL at your image host’s site. Don’t use the first image that you see when you get to your image page.
It sounds like a huge bother, but getting registered with the host is the much bigger deal. After that, just take your time with these instructions, and it should work just fine.
As a final note, be sure to throw .jpg on the end of a picture. I keep my pics at www.pbase.com/copcarss, and when you click on a picture, it’s still an html page. You can fool the forum by adding .jpg to the link though, and it will pick out the picture.
Best of luck! We look forward to seeing your shots!
