Picked up a PW 2339 and was interested in removing the old worn “Wabash” decal under the cab window and replacing with a new one. How does one remove the old ones without damaging the paint? I should ask if new ones are available and if they slide on after soaking in water like the old plastic model decals? Also, is it wise to put a clear coat or some type of protector over them with a small brush to keep them from flaking? Thanks for sharing your experience!

Not sure about the paint issue, but soaking most stickers/adhesives/decals in WD-40 for about 15 minutes usually soaks the adhesive off of just about anything. You might want to test the paint issue out on an inconspicuous area first. Good luck!
Walthers decal remover. Works on both decals and paint/ink.
Put tape on them and pull off the old one then use warm water on what’s left to soften the glue and remove the rest. If the paint is solid it won’t be harmed, done this many times.
