How does the IC/CN get to St. Louis via Springfield?

I was going over maps today, and I noticed that the IC had trackage rights over the former Alton, former GM&O, former ICG, former regional railroad whose name escapes me, former SP, now UP from Springfield, Illinois to St. Louis, Missouri.

I have spent many of days in Carlinville where this line goes through and have not seen an IC train since it was under the ICG banner. Does IC/CN ever use this line?

Yet, I know the IC does run to St. Louis via Springfield. The trains from the line off of Gilman have to go somewhere, and I see trains heading northbound out of St. Louis that are IC.

How does the IC get to St. Louis via Springfield and how many trains a day does it send?

Thanks for your help.

Gabe

Gabe:
I can think of only one way to get there and that is down the ex GMO (UP) line.

I was down that way yesterday, even saw a KCS train going north into Jacksonville. It had 2 units and 4 covered hoppers. I will piggyback on your thread…

Does anyone know how often KCS runs into Jacksonville? Where does the local come from? Finally, about how many daily trains do they run on the ex GMO line between KC, Roodhouse, and EStL?
