James -
Basically, you place a post, letting everyone know a few simple bits of information as follows:
1 - Location
2 - Customers you serve and their commidities (both in and out bound).
After that, (all fictional, of course) you place a post saying for example, customer ‘A’ needs - commidity ((?) you make this up as you go along). And customer ‘B’ has this commidity and is looking for buyers (customers) elsewhere. KenLarsen operates the area around the Port of Baltimore. I’m sure if you start at the beginning, and read very slowly, you’ll be able to make sense of everything and be off and running from there.
Any questions, post them in that thread and the otehrs can answer them as you post them!

Some folks looked at thier railroad and saw what they can ship out and what they can ship in. Built a list and off and running they went.
Early in the project I thought kewl… a few boxcars here a few hopper there etc… but the traffic has grown to what I think was quite intense.
I honestly didn’t know what I was getting into! Maybe over the next week I can straighten out this M.E.S.S. and figure where all my rolling stock is.

It’s not easy to keep track of what’s going on, I have to have a spread sheet open to keep track of my traffic each week. Give it a try James, just post what things your railroad ships outbound, what the industries on your railroad need inbound, and people will start offering to send you cars or take some of your traffic. Make sure you post your railroads location and where your interchange is too, so we can figure out how to bridge traffic.

I use a notepad on the computer and keep a draft of the weekly traffic.
I edit it for new additions, subtractions and new traffic each week. Each railroad has a list of inbound, outbounds and wants so it is not difficult to track everything.
But freight cars do get lost in the roar occasionally.
