I have a BC125AT. It has a Service Bank of just AAR frequencies. How long does it take for it to scan all (97?) railroad channels.
A quick search on-line indicates 300 channels per second. Are you going to add the new frequencies (another ~100 channels)?
Thanks, Tree! That seems fast enough!
I don’t know about the 100 channels. Could you please explain?
Together with the narrowbanding of VHF several years ago, the AAR was able to put another channel in between the existing channels. Radioreference has a list of both the existing and the new channels. https://www.radioreference.com/db/aid/7747
I don’t know how many of those new channels are in use so far - one would be more likely to see them in rail congested areas, especially yards, etc.
It’s my understanding that the digital technology of choice for the railroads is NXDN. You may see some of the new channels using that vs analog FM in the future.
