How long did it take Gary Hoover???

The question I have is this. How does someone like Gary Hoover or others build a new lay out in such short of time frame? Most people have been working on their layouts for many years and are not done yet.

You can tell that Gary is an artist from his work on the layout featured in Great Layouts about 10 years ago and now the new one. I would imagine that Gary does most of the scenery work but all of the construction work would be very time consuming as well. Do they hire people to help build them?

Most of the big articles are about layouts of 800-1,000 sq. ft. or more. What’s the estimate on man hours to build per square foot?

George Sellios: 452 man/hours per square foot
Gary Hoover: 450 man/hours per square foot
John Allen: 378 man/hours per square foot
Tony Koester: 355 man/hours per square foot
me: 10 man/minutes per square yard

Sorry, I made it all up. (Except for the ‘me’ part!)

Darrell, quickly quiet…for now
